We chose the name “Oak City Swim School” because we are proud of the city we live in and the community we have been surrounded by for twenty years.
We love our Oak City and wanted that to come across through our messaging in hopes that we can further develop ourselves as a positive piece in this community.
We believe water safety skills and learning how to swim are lifesaving skills. Providing an opportunity and comfortable space to practice these skills is one of the ways we can have an impact on our community. One of our greatest joys is seeing an entire family come through our program. Maybe as a previous fear, parents take the measures to protect their children the way they had never learned. Then, as a result, they grow the confidence to enroll in lessons themselves, showing their children and our community that it’s never too late to start swimming!
Our other impact is through employment. Now that we’re getting into our twentieth year, we’ve had the pleasure of hiring our swim kids as employees. Children from our community that have grown up with us are coming back to become swim instructors, deck managers, or administrators, and we couldn’t be prouder of our young adults!
As we rebrand, we’re also shifting some of our messaging. When we started years ago, we were running a few classes for children. But as we’ve expanded our program, we’ve found a great need for adult classes. We want our messaging to reflect this and have directed our focus to ‘students’, not just children and their watching parents. We’ve also put a larger focus on our special needs classes. Our incredible staff includes several instructors that are experienced in working with extreme phobias and physical or learning limitations.
We believe everyone should have a chance to learn how to swim and use our products. If at any time you experience any sort of hindrance, whether it’s during the registration process or swim lessons, please let us know! We’re always looking for ways to improve ourselves.
